Terms of Use

Effective date: 23 October 2026 · Last updated: 23 October 2026

These terms govern your use of the Setlino mobile application and the legal website. Please read them before creating an account.

1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of the Setlino mobile application and the legal website behind it, operated by Črt Grohar, Ljubljana, Slovenia — an individual developer, not a registered company (“we”, “us”).

By creating an account you accept these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, do not create an account or use the app.

If you use Setlino on behalf of a group, you confirm that you are allowed to accept these terms for yourself, and that the other members are responsible for their own use of the app.

2. What Setlino Is

Setlino is a record-keeping tool for splitting shared expenses in small groups. It calculates shares and balances from the information its users enter, and lets members record repayments that happened elsewhere.

Setlino is not a payment service, bank, money transmitter, e-money institution or financial adviser. It never holds, moves or transfers money. Payments recorded in the app describe transfers that happen outside it; the recipient confirms whether they actually received them. We cannot recover money, reverse a real bank transfer, or force anyone to pay.

The app is free to use. No fee is charged for accounts, groups, expenses or recorded repayments.

3. Your Account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. If the law of your country sets a higher age for independent consent to online services, that age applies.
  • You must provide a working email address and keep access to it. It is how you confirm your account and reset your password.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity on your account. Tell us promptly if you believe someone else has access to it.
  • One account per person. Do not share credentials or create accounts for others.
  • You can delete your account in the app at any time — Profile → Delete account. Section 5 explains what happens to shared records.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • enter information you know to be false in a way that misleads other members about money;
  • attempt to access other people's groups or data, or test the service's security without written permission;
  • automate, scrape, overload or reverse-engineer the service, or bypass its rate limits;
  • use the app for unlawful purposes, harassment, or to record payments for illegal goods or services;
  • impersonate another person or create accounts on their behalf.

We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules, or that create a security or legal risk for the service or its users.

5. Content and Shared Records

  • You keep ownership of the content you enter (group names, expense titles, notes).
  • You grant us the licence needed to store, process and display that content to the members of the groups you share it with.
  • Data you enter into a group belongs to that group's shared record. Other members can see it and depend on it. If you leave a group you have not recorded expenses in, your name is removed from the member list, but expenses and payments you were part of stay in the group's history so that other members' balances remain correct.
  • You cannot leave a group once you have recorded an expense in it or been part of a recorded payment, because removing you would break the other members' balances. In that case the only way to reduce your personal data in the group is to delete your account, which replaces your identity with a “Deleted account” record.
  • A group that contains expenses or recorded payments cannot be deleted inside the app, and confirmed payments cannot be edited or deleted. Corrections are recorded as separate reversal entries.
  • Deleting your account removes your personal data but not the shared financial rows described above; those are shown as “Deleted account”. See the Privacy Policy for the exact retention rules.

6. Balances Are Calculations, Not Debts We Enforce

Balances and suggested payments are arithmetic summaries of what members have entered and confirmed. They are not invoices, statements, credit assessments or evidence of a legal debt. Disputes about who owes what are between the members of the group. Always check that a payment was really received before confirming it, and never rely on Setlino as the only record of a payment that matters to you.

7. Availability and Changes

The service is provided “as is”. We aim to keep it available and correct, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may change or discontinue features.

Setlino does not currently include an export feature. You can ask us for a copy of the personal data you have entered by writing to groharcrt@gmail.com, and you should keep your own record of any payment that matters to you.

If we discontinue the service, we will give reasonable notice in the app so that you can record what you need.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss arising from (a) information entered incorrectly by you or another member, (b) payments made outside the app, or (c) unavailability of the service.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, or your statutory consumer rights. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights granted to you by the mandatory law of your country of residence.

9. Termination

You may stop using Setlino at any time and delete your account in the app. We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or creates a security or legal risk. Where reasonable, we will tell you why.

Records that other members' balances depend on are retained as described in the Privacy Policy, even after an account is closed.

10. Governing Law and Disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Slovenia, without affecting the mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.

If you are a consumer resident in the European Union, you may bring proceedings in the courts of your own country of residence, and we may bring proceedings there as well. Otherwise, disputes are subject to the competent courts in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Before starting proceedings, please write to groharcrt@gmail.com so we can try to resolve the matter directly.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms when the app changes or when the law requires it. The updated terms will show a revised “Last updated” date. Where a change is significant, we will inform users in the app before it takes effect.

If you do not agree with a change, you can stop using Setlino and delete your account.
